Kurt Reymers, Ph.D.

Prof ReymersProfessor Reymers has taught sociology and anthropology at SUNY Morrisville since 2001. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University at Buffalo in 2004. Research interests include the ethics of technology, cultural evolution, and memes (not just the internet ones), particularly the effect beliefs have on collective social behavior and trends, from fandom to economic behavior to political insurrections. He is also interested in social stratification, or the inequalities of status within and between societies.

Professor Reymers is also an avid music and podcast fan and creator, using music in teaching and playing electronic and acoustic drums, iPads, and guitar for pleasure and entertainment. He is currently working with Professor Efimenko to produce a weird fiction podcast and other creative works. He is an avid year-round mountain biker. Having grown up in nearby Earlville, NY, he is a native of central New York, but spent twelve years living in the city of Buffalo, which he still considers a “home away from home."
