PREREQUISITE: Office Technology Senior Student status and OFFT 140
1 credit hour = 45 hours worked within Internship

Course Objective:
This course enables student to gain hands-on experience within the following skills:
1, Demonstrate proper use of time management
2. Demonstrate and understand correct office procedures pertaining to their setting
3. Demonstrate professional telephone etiquette
4. Demonstrate professional customer service skills as it relates to their setting
5. Key and manipulate data in office database
6. Produce mailable correspondence, memorandums, and other documents
7. Assist and provide teamwork attitude within existing office staff
8. Demonstrate and further develop problem-solving skills necessary within setting
9. Demonstrate proper use of photocopy machine
10. Demonstrate proper use of facsimile machine
11. Demonstrate importance of confidentiality within office setting
12. Demonstrate office communications/human relations skills within setting
13. Assist in maintaining/organizing current record management system
in office setting
14. Demonstrate a professional office attitude
15. Experience the interview process within an office.
Placement: Instructor locates a variety of
offices on campus for student to interview with. Instructor gives student office contact
name. It is the student’s responsibility
to contact office personnel to schedule the interview. After the interview takes place, Instructor
contacts both the office personnel as well as the student to realize if both
parties are interested in performing the Internship. (Note:
It is the discretion of the student as well as the office personnel to
accept this placement opportunity.)
For
off-campus placement, it is the student’s responsibility to inform instructor
of location for desired internship.
Instructor will follow up with desired office to begin the process.
Attendance Policy: Student will develop time log indicating number of hours worked each day while completing their Internship. A work schedule will be determined between Office Supervisor and Student.
Grading )
* Student will be evaluated by office personnel (Supervisor)
* Instructor will visit office at least once within semester to check on progress.
* Grading reflects student’s performance and professionalism displayed within the office setting.
Grading Standards:
A = Excellent abilities
demonstrated during internship
B = Above
average abilities demonstrated during internship
C = Average abilities
demonstrated during internship
D = Below
average/Fair abilities demonstrated during internship
F = Student demonstrated
consistently poor performance during internship
