Texts: 10 Key Mastery on the Computer,
by Barbara G. Ellsworth (with disk)
Prerequisite: None
Offered: Fall semester
-----------------------------------------------------------
Course Description:
1). To learn the numeric keypad on the computer by touch. (An IBM compatible computer is needed.)
2). To
develop a speed of 10,000 keystrokes or more per hour.
3). To
develop the data entry rate of accuracy to be at least 96%
3). To work independently and apply good work
habits/time management skills.
Assignments:
Complete Exercises 1 – 22 and Exercise 23 and 24 throughout semester. In order for the computer to record your speed, you need to be at 96% accuracy or better. The computer records your best speed in the first column. If you are not at 96% accuracy or above, the computer will not save your work. You may do the exercises more than five times to get higher scores; however, you must complete each exercise at least five times.
As an Instructor, I will be able to go into the Ellsworth Publishing website and view your work, which I will do each week. It is important to spend ample time each week in order to properly master numeric pad keys. It is important to stay current with your work assignments. You can always go back and complete the exercises again to try to get a better score. Your best five scores will be recorded.
At the end of the eight weeks, I will inform you which test will be considered for your “Final Exam”. At that time, you will have a set day and time to complete the Final.
You
may and should look at your Progress Report weekly so that you can see how you
are doing throughout the course. The
link to Progress Reports is located at the very bottom under each lesson on the
left side of your screen.

My
recommendation – get book and get started.
You will get the grade deserving of the time you put into this
class. You may work ahead of schedule; therefore,
giving you time to go back and get better grades on past exercises...!!!
It
is strongly advised to go back and rekey lessons in which you might have had a
hard time with. Remember, the software
will automatically take your top five attempts at each lesson.
If
you are a student with a documented disability, who wishes to use academic
accommodations, you should do the following:
1).
Speak with me during the first week of class.
2).
Speak with the Director at the
